Relationship Attribution Policy
Overview
This Policy explains how credit (“attribution”) for a sponsorship relationship or deal is decided among Operators, Organizations, and Seat Theory. It supports our Operator Agreement and Commission & Payment Terms. Clear attribution protects everyone and keeps the Marketplace fair.
How Attribution Is Determined
Attribution is determined by Seat Theory’s Platform records, based primarily on: (1) who first registered and protected the relationship or lead on the Platform; (2) who performed the work that advanced the deal; and (3) whether Seat Theory or the Organization already had the relationship before it was registered. Where these point to different people, Seat Theory weighs them in good faith.
Lead Registration & Protection
Registering a lead or relationship on the Platform protects it and attributes it to you for thirty (30) days, renewable through documented activity. Protection applies only to relationships that were not already known to Seat Theory or the Organization, and only where your registration is accurate and made in good faith.
Common Scenarios
You introduce a brand. If you register a brand that was not already known to Seat Theory or the Organization, and you advance it, the relationship is protected and attributed to you for that Opportunity.
Another Operator closes it. Credit follows the Platform record. If you registered and worked it but another Operator closes, Seat Theory determines credit — and any split — based on who did the work of record.
Seat Theory already had the relationship. If the brand or contact was already a Seat Theory relationship (a “house” relationship) before your registration, it is not attributable to you, though you may still be credited for work you actually perform.
The Organization already knew the brand. If the Organization already had the relationship, attribution to you may be reduced or unavailable. You should disclose known pre-existing relationships when you register.
Multiple contributors. Where more than one person meaningfully advanced a deal, Seat Theory may split credit and commission under the Commission & Payment Terms.
Disputes
Attribution disputes are reviewed by Seat Theory and decided in good faith based on Platform records and available evidence. We aim to resolve them fairly and promptly; our determination is final except where the law provides otherwise.
Good-Faith Obligations
You agree to register relationships accurately, to disclose known pre-existing relationships, to keep your activity current on the Platform, and not to backdate, misrepresent, or otherwise game attribution. Bad-faith registration may forfeit credit and result in suspension.
